A 2-Hydroxypyridine Catabolism Pathway in Rhodococcus rhodochrous Strain PY11.
Rhodococcus rhodochrous PY11 (DSM 101666) is able to use 2-hydroxypyridine as a sole source of carbon and energy. By investigating a gene cluster (hpo) from this bacterium, we were able to reconstruct the catabolic pathway of 2-hydroxypyridine degradation. Here, we report that in Rhodococcus rhodochrous PY11, the initial hydroxylation of 2-hydroxypyridine is catalyzed by a four-component dioxyg...
متن کاملnew semigroup compactifications via the enveloping semigroups of associated flows
this thesis deals with the construction of some function algebras whose corresponding semigroup compactification are universal with respect to some properies of their enveloping semigroups. the special properties are of beigan a left zero, a left simple, a group, an inflation of the right zero, and an inflation of the rectangular band.

In gram-negative bacteria, a pathway for aerobic degradation of phenylacetic acid (PAA) that proceeds via phenylacetyl-coenzyme A (CoA) and hydrolytic ring fission plays a central role in the degradation of a range of aromatic compounds. In contrast, the PAA pathway and its role are not well characterized in gram-positive bacteria. A cluster including 13 paa genes encoding enzymes orthologous t...
متن کاملsRNA Associated Genomic Islands in Salmonella spp
Genomic Islands are parts of a genome that has evidence of horizontal origins. The present work is a continuation of our earlier work that identified 25 regions downstream of the small RNAs as hotspots of genomic island integration by analyzing three strains of E.coli and one strain of Shigella spp genomes. Till that work, genomic islands have been identified only at tRNA/tmRNA genes in the ent...
متن کاملVanillin catabolism in Rhodococcus jostii RHA1.
Genes encoding vanillin dehydrogenase (vdh) and vanillate O-demethylase (vanAB) were identified in Rhodococcus jostii RHA1 using gene disruption and enzyme activities. During growth on vanillin or vanillate, vanA was highly upregulated while vdh was not. This study contributes to our understanding of lignin degradation by RHA1 and other actinomycetes.
